The lights dimmed as the audience found their seats, and before the sound of bagpipes filled the air and a large screen backdrop projected animations and designs used to complement the music. Finally, the band appeared on stage and picked up the harmonies with the use of their guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals.
On March 23rd, the four-piece band from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, made an immediate connection with the crowd, and generated an incredibly comfortable sense of community among fans. Through their music and easy-going attitudes, The Trews seemed to turn a concert where thousands of strangers come together to watch a great show, to something a little more similar to an entire family, gathering for a reunion.
